A Golden Compass for the Golden Age
What does the coming era of abundance look like for you?
We are standing at a threshold. Every news headline about AI, every conversation about what's coming, is really asking one question underneath it all: what will we do with abundance when it arrives? I've spent years pondering this. Not the abundance of money or things, but the abundance of time, energy, and choice that's about to be handed back to humanity. Machines will do more of the doing. What will we do with the space that opens up?
Some will fill it with fear — hoarding, competing, bracing for scarcity that no longer needs to exist. Others will fill it with purpose — creating, connecting, giving. The Golden Age isn't a date on a calendar. It's a compass heading, and each of us gets to choose which way we point.
I think of the old alchemists, who believed gold wasn't just a metal — it represented a symbol of the soul fully realized, base matter transformed through fire and patience into something incorruptible. That's what this era is asking of us. Not new technology alone, but a new inner architecture — hearts wide enough to hold the wealth that's coming without losing ourselves in it.
THE GIVE-FIRST PRINCIPLE
I learned the hard way. Life was about me, me, me. Here's what I've come to believe, and it's the deeper reason I've spent this season building: abundance doesn't arrive as a reward for what we accumulate. It arrives as a response to what we're willing to give away.
Here's how I've come to live that: abundance grows the moment you stop asking "what can I get" and start asking "what can I give." Give your attention fully to the person in front of you. Give credit before you take it. Give your best idea away before you're sure someone else won't use it better. Every tradition that ever understood real wealth knew this — circulate it, and it multiplies. Hoard it, and it calcifies.
So if you want more abundance in your life, don't start by chasing it. Start by finding one thing — your time, your skill, your resources, your presence — and give it first, generously, before you know what you'll get back.

It asks that we open our hands first, and let receiving follow giving, the way it always has in every wisdom tradition that's outlasted its own era. A QUIETER CRISIS
For two decades I've watched a crisis unfold underneath the noise — one that doesn't trend, but should. Right now, 137 million Americans live somewhere without adequate access to mental wellness. Nearly all of our teenagers and young adults are living inside social feeds, many of them nearly constantly. And over half of the top mental wellness advice circulating on those feeds is misinformation — most of it from people with no qualification to be giving it at all. Meanwhile, suicide has become the second leading cause of death for people under 34 in this country. The trusted voices — the therapists, the recovery coaches, the researchers, the elders who've actually walked through the fire and back — they already exist. They've invested lifetimes building libraries of real wisdom: books, courses, talks, hard-won insight. But the feed buries them. It wasn't built to surface truth. It was built to hold attention.
PROOF, NOT A PITCH
So I asked myself the same question I've been asking about the coming abundance more broadly: what if the answer isn't a louder voice calling into the noise? Still, a different kind of infrastructure altogether — one that lets a person's actual question find the actual wisdom that answers it, instead of whatever the algorithm decided would keep them scrolling? That question became TruGuide. Its technology is built on a simple, almost old-fashioned premise: when someone is hurting and searching, they deserve to be guided to a real, verified, human voice — not served whatever performs best. Every journey begins with a question, not a feed. Every answer comes from a knowledge-keeper who earned the right to speak on it. And when that connection happens, the value flows back to the person who did the work of gaining that wisdom in the first place — so that quality knowledge, and the people who hold it, can be sustained rather than drowned out.
This is my potlatch, offered in the language of code instead of ceremony. Not to hoard the tools of discovery for the few who can pay to be seen, but to give the trusted ones a road back to visibility — so that healing, not virality, becomes the thing the system rewards.
THE GOLDEN COMPASS
I share this with you because I believe the Golden Age won't be built by any one company or any one technology. It will be built by all of us choosing, again and again, in ways big and small, to circulate rather than hoard — our knowledge, our resources, our attention, our care.
So here's the compass: When abundance arrives, will it make you more generous, or more guarded? More connected, or more isolated? More you, or less?
The coming era won't be defined by what we build. It will be defined by who we become while building it, and what we're willing to give before we ever ask what we'll receive.
